The election of Donald Trump as US president is a disaster for America and for the world.
It must also be an end of the idea that the UK can rely on the US for our security. Trump's plans add up to a global trade war, pulling the plug on Ukraine, dismantling Nato and much more besides.
It has never been clearer that our future lies – must lie – in Europe. Labour's 'baby steps' were always too slow, but now they have to speed up or we will all face the consequences.
This is another point where history turns, and where our campaigning to rejoin the EU must step up a gear.
