The Eurovision Song Contest is the greatest musical event across Europe...

...and we are going to be there, flying the flag for our place in Europe!

Whether you are a fan of the show or not, you can't argue that Eurovision has come to symbolise a huge coming together of European countries and a massive celebration of a shared culture, diversity and humanity.

Eurovision 2023 will be held here in my home city of Liverpool this year. Liverpool is hosting on behalf of Ukraine, whose entry into the competition ‘Kalush Orchestra’, won last year’s contest.

Due to the war in Ukraine, it was decided that the UK (which came second) would host, with the show paying tribute to the people and culture of Ukraine.

Operation: Eurovision

Stay European is working with the National Rejoin March and Thank EU for the Music to make sure that the spirit of the EU – and the wish of both the UK and Ukraine to join the EU – is represented in Liverpool.

We will be there in the heart of Liverpool, handing out EU flags, flyers and Rejoin materials to Eurovision attendees – chatting with the public, enjoying the festival atmosphere and providing a friendly European welcome to all.

Can you help? We will be meeting at Keel Wharf, opposite the arena, at 2pm on Saturday 13 May.

A symbol of Europe

While Eurovision is set to be lots of fun, it is important to remember why it is so important to Europe – and why the Rejoin movement wants to make Eurovision 2023 count in our campaigning events.

Since the formation of the EU, one of the consistent values promoted by the union is the sharing of culture. The Eurovision Song Contest was born from these peace-making values and is one of the most enduring branches of this concept: supporting the mutual enjoyment of music and the arts, celebrating diversity, togetherness and cooperation.

For the duration of the contest, European countries come together with a shared aim; enjoying each other’s performance and putting aside differences.

Eurovision is much more than a music contest; it is a symbol of European peace-making and friendship.

With Europe and the UK never more divided, coming together to celebrate our place in Europe and keep up the increasing momentum and passion of the Rejoin movement has never been so important.

Join us on Saturday 13 May in Liverpool and be a part of the movement.
