The school concrete crisis – with an ever-growing number of schools being declared too risky to use – shows the condition of Brexit Britain today.
Yes, the school concrete pre-dates Brexit – in fact, given its age, a lot of it pre-dates our EU membership – but that's not the point.
It's simple: any responsible government would have rebuilt the affected schools long before it became a crisis. Thanks to Brexit, we do not have a responsible government: we have a prime minister who personally, as chancellor, refused to fund school building programmes.
The issue isn't limited to schools either, as it is coming to light that some hospitals also contain this air-filled, collapse-prone material.
Brexit makes it harder to fix these problems for another reason too: in a situation where we need urgent remedial construction work, Brexit has caused a desperate shortage of construction workers.
In so many ways, it now feels like Britain is crumbling around us – from rising poverty levels to the news of Birmingham council declaring itself bankrupt, and the everyday problems caused by labour shortages, getting health appointments, cancelled trains... it feels like nothing works.
The common factor is the damage done by 13 years of Tory misrule, and by far the biggest part of that damage is down to Brexit. We can rebuild – but to do it we must rejoin.

Fly the flag at the Proms
Since the referendum, it has been a tradition in the pro-EU movement to give out EU flags at the Last Night of the Proms. As the organisers say, this is "to support the musicians who are so badly affected by Brexit, and to highlight how the majority of people in the UK never wanted to leave the EU".
